Mayrhofen is a town in the Zillertal in the stunning Austrian region of Tyrol. It is located approximately an hour from Innsbruck, so it enjoys excellent flight connections from the UK. Mayrhofen is situated close to the Hintertux glacier, which sits 3250m above sea level and above the snowline – so skiing is available all year round here. Each spring around early April our ski stag weekends in Mayrhofen come by the dozens – all for respected electronic dance music festival ‘Snowbombing’. Initially this snow fest started in Risoul, France – but since 2005, Mayrhofen has led the way. Snowbombing stag do combined with crazy shows, live bands and excellent lift systems makes this music festival an attractive offering for grooms and bestmen alike. Mayrhofen has a well-deserved rep amongst stag skiers and snow boarders for its immense 671km ski area, which does include the snowsure Hintertux glacier. The season lively après-ski scene is very good, but dont expect to bring home much change, Austria is expensive. If you want cheap beer and strip clubs then Austria is not for you. For that kind of snow combination we highly recommend Borovets in Bulgaria or Ljubljana in Slovenia. Overall, the Mayrhofen stag do has remained consistent throughout the years, as it does exactly what it says on the tin. A traditional-looking resort, offering an excellent choice of restaurants, bars and clubs that really liven up in the evenings.
